 I am responsible...

when anyone,

anywhere

reaches out,

I want the hand

of AA to be there.

And for that,

   I am responsible.

Who can come to open AA meetings?

Anyone with an interest in learning more about alcoholism or Alcoholics Anonymous is welcome to attend open meetings.

The Tuscaloosa Group has discussion meetings, beginner's meetings, and a weekly speaker meeting that are open to alcoholics and non-alcoholics. Attendance at an open meeting is the best way to learn what AA is, and what it does and does not do.

     Open speaker meetings

Open to alcoholics and non-alcoholics. At speaker meetings AA members "tell their stories." They describe their experiences with alcohol, how they came to AA, and how their lives have changed as a result of AA.

     Open discussion meetings

A chairperson introduces a topic relating to alcoholism or recovery. Members then discuss their own experiences. We ask that all who participate confine their discussion to the topic as

it relates to alcoholism.

     Open beginner's meetings

These meetings are open to all.

This is how many AA members are introduced

to AA and the 12 steps of recovery.

The Tuscaloosa Group is part of District 5, which is a seven county area. Some of the towns include Fayette, Winfield, Jasper, Vernon, Haleyville and Hamilton. Included with our group meeting schedule is a schedule of all the meetings in the district with locations and contact phone numbers for these groups.
